Halo is the vernacular term for mix. This popular Filipino dessert is usually available during the summer season. However, one restaurant serves this cold treat all year round.

Some fun facts about halo-halo

It  popular Filipino dessert that is a mixture of shaved ice and evaporated milk to which are added various boiled sweet beans and fruits, and served in a tall glass or bowl.

Halo-halo was featured as a Quickfire Challenge dish in the seventh episode of the fourth season of the American reality television series Top Chef.
The halo-halo, which featured avocado, mango, kiwi and nuts, was prepared by Filipino-American contestant Dale Talde and named as one of the top three Quickfire Challenge dishes by guest judge Johnny Iuzzini of Jean-Georges.

It is mentioned in the TV show Degrassi: The Next Generation in the Season 7 episode "We Got the Beat" when Jay is eating dinner at Manny's house and Manny's mom asks "More halo-halo, Jay?"
