Gotti's Italian Restaurant | Review

Hubby and I are both fans of Italian food, if we can, we try to go out and discover places that serve good Italian cooking but are quiet friendly to the pockets.

Last Saturday after our class, we went around SM Megamall to find a nice place to have lunch in. Our feet landed us in Gotti's, located at the new Atrium.

Let's start talking about the place, shall we?

The ambiance was quiet and the low lit dining area was a welcome change. It put the focus on the food instead of the surroundings, but made it difficult for me to take photos without using the flash. I like taking photos of my food using natural light or ambient lighting, but last Saturday, I really had to use the flash or end up with either blurred or dark photos.

The service was fast and efficient. We didn't have to call the waiter twice! 

Let me get on with the important part of this review, the food and price.

The food that we had was great. Sure, you can try to make something similar at home, but there was something about the way they made it that made me feel that I'd rather go to Gotti's than try to replicate it at home.

To start with, we got the mushroom bruschetta which introduced us to the potential flavors of our main meal. It wasn't heavy but it did what it was supposed to do, got our appetites running in anticipation of our pasta.

Hubby's grilled chicken pesto was cooked to perfection. The basil didn't overpower the chicken to the point that you'd look for the chicken because you can't taste it. My garlic shrimp pasta was good as well, the black olives brought out the flavor of the ingredients of the meal. Both pasta were good for sharing and they both came with two slices of herbed foccacia bread. 

The dessert was - HEAVENLY! It wasn't sweet and you can definitely taste the dark chocolate used to make the gellato. As for the brandied cherry in the middle, it provided the dessert with an extra ooomph to make it tastier.

The nice thing about the ambiance and the kind of food that they served, it made you feel like you are not being rushed into sitting down, placing your order, eating your food as fast as you can and then pay in order to scoot out fast.

If you're on a budget, two people can rack the bill at Php700 (roughly 18 USD). Not bad if you want to take your special someone out on a date or take your family out for a special Italian dinner.

Tous Les Jours Eastwood City

Discovering places to buy yummy food is one of my passions. One of my most recent discoveries is Tous Les Jours which sells French pastries. Here are photos of the first things that I sampled from them: French Macarons

Since we couldn't decide what flavor to buy, we decided to try their sampler. It was a five piece tray that contained their best flavors.

From left to right, the flavors are: Vanilla, Chocolate, Strawberry, Green Tea and Butter. I loved all of them! The price is at 28 pesos per piece and no discount if you buy the sampler. 

It's okay since it is totally worth it. Aside from these macarons, I would love to try their bread and cakes. Can't wait for our next visit.

Creamy Chicken Baguette

I love sandwiches and here's another experiment that I would like to share with you:

What you need:

2 pieces of about 6" inch baguettes
5 cloves of garlic
1 small onion finely chopped
1/2 K of chicken breast fillet diced
1 small can of sliced mushrooms
1 small can of Cream of mushroom
Shredded cheese
2 tablespoons of Olive oil
salt and pepper to taste

What to do:

1. Saute garlic, onion and diced chicken in a saucepan of pre-heated olive oil
2. Once the chicken is cooked, add the mushrooms. Simmer for 5 minutes
3. Add the cream of mushroom and simmer for another 5 minutes
4. Salt and pepper to taste and simmer for another 5 minutes
5. Cool it before serving

To serve

Slice the baguette in half and open it. Put the filling in and top with cheese, serve.
